Hedgehand is set in a mannequin-maker’s hedge maze. You play the one hand that got away, walking on its fingertips to find the parts of a body and rebuild a whole person.

What we did

  • Built the game in Three.js on WebGL with no model, texture or audio files: the hand, hedges and foliage are made in code, and the music is synthesised in Web Audio.
  • Rigged a jointed hand with inverse kinematics on every finger, so it walks, runs, jumps, climbs hedges, falls flat and gets back up.
  • Wrote a seeded maze generator, so the same seed always grows the same garden: it drives 18 campaign gardens, a Daily Garden shared by every player, and share links.
  • Added four kinds of enemy and a boss, the Gardener, with hazards, a day and night cycle, 20 achievements that unlock cosmetics for the hand, and a photo mode.
  • Set four quality tiers from low to ultra, added touch controls for phones, and checked each milestone with a Playwright harness.
